Microsoft Zune 30GB iPod Killer ?

zune2

Microsoft’s Zune has been the talk of the town since it’s release during last year’s holiday season yet the context of the “talking” has been both good and bad. We’ve read mixed reviews with some loving the Zune and some hating it. Understandably this must be quite confusing for consumers, so today we at BFR hope to leave you with a review that you can truly use to base your opinion of the Zune on. Everyone has been looking for the silver bullet “iPod killing” mp3 player to come out but one must ask are we all being just a bit silly to have such expectations? The iPod has been a success that all device-making tech companies can only dream about having. The player dominates the market and thanks to key first-mover advantages like establishing an online music store to accompany the booming iPod, the player will continue to do so for years to come. For anyone to think it’s possible for a company to come to market with a product so innovative that it instantly gobbles up even half of the iPod’s market share is ridiculous. For one the iPod is a house hold name product. Everyone know’s what it is and more than likely knows someone that has one (or two). Another reason, which is equally is big, is that most iPod owners have purchased some form of music off the iTunes music store and thanks in part to DRM, all of that music instantly goes down the drain if someone were to change from their iPod to different device.

Two Really Useful Apple iPod Touch Video Reviews

I found these two videos on the net. One covers the basic functionality of the 16gb Apple iPod Touch and the other shows you all the goodies available to you once you have unlocked it. The guy on the second video says he didn’t find anything useful with his unlocked Touch, all I can say is he’s not using it properly, I can do just about everything on mine. So to kick things off, here’s a mini review, followed by the two vids.

Neuros Mpeg Recorder 2

This looks like a neat little toy if want to get video from old sources and get them on your modern day gadgets. The quality of the recordings depends on the quality of the original content and signal, but the Neuros Recorder 2 Plus captures its footage at 30 frames per second with a 640 x 480 resolution (close to DVD quality). Users can then save the content via one of several resolution/compression options. The resolution methods include VGA for TV playback; WQGVA for the PSP; QVGA (15 and 30 frames per second) and QVGA 3GP for handhelds such as the PSP, iPod, SmartPhones, PDAs, and Pocket PCs; and QCIF and QCIF 3GP for mobile phones. The compression options, meanwhile, consist of superfine, fine, normal, and economy. Note that the superfine and fine settings are only available for the VGA resolution.

T-Amp Gen 2 Amplifier

t_amp_gen2

To put it short and sweet… The T-Amp line of amplifiers from Sonic Impact are revered by audiophiles everywhere for their amazing sound and incredible price. These amps have better sound than others that cost 10 times as much.

The key to the T-Amp is - amazingly enough - Class T amplification. Class T amplifiers offer both the audio fidelity of Class AB (which you’d likely find in your home stereo reciever) and the power efficiency of Class D amplifiers (often used to provide the punch for subwoofer amps).

Trust us when we say that you will be fully satisfied with the sound from the T-Amp. Don’t believe us? See what others are saying:

Creative Zen 4Gb - Review

creative_zen_stone_4gb_crave

Firstly, and obviously, the Stone Plus will come with up to 4GB of internal memory. But it also comes with support for unprotected AAC files, such as those bought from the iTunes Plus Store. It also has increased battery life, which now stands at a more trendy 12 hours. Everything else stays the same: it’s got the original glossy black design, the same blue OLED screen, the same interface and the same basic feature set.

Sony Psp phone - Fact or Fiction ?

11-21-07-pspphone

Sony Computer Entertainment co-chief operating officer Jim Ryan apparently, told the India Times that the “PlayStation is a proven success and so is Sony Ericsson,” and that “convergence with the two arms working together is definitely plausible.” Granted, he did note that it could be quite some time before such a device would see the market, and that if indeed it did, it would likely resemble a handheld gaming system with a phone blended in and not vice-versa. So yeah, we’re not really any closer to knowing whether this thing truly is somewhere in the pipeline, but here’s to hoping that we don’t have to wait another year or so to find out more.

CMV9301 PMP doubles as 3MP to 5MP camera

pmp

We’ve seen the camera / PMP mishmash before, and now that we’re witnessing yet another iteration, we still aren’t really feeling the concept. Nevertheless, those that are should certainly take a gander at Shenzhen Carav Electronics’ CMV9301, which features a three-inch 320 x 240 resolution display, support for a 1.8-inch hard drive, three- or five-megapixel camera, 4x digital zoom, integrated flash, SD expansion slot, AV in / out, line-in port, a built-in speaker and a trifecta of games for good measure. Additionally, this thing claims to play nice with MP3, WMA, PCM, WAV, AVI, MOV, MP4 and ASF file formats, and the rechargeable Li-ion should be good for around ten hours of music / four hours of video playback. As these things always go, there’s no word on how much a single one will cost, but feel free to phone ‘em up if you can shake off that voice pleading with you to not order “at least 200.”
