From Internet browsing to sending and receiving e-mails and calls, today’s phones are capable of doing multifarious activities within seconds. Now phones have become an indispensable part of our lives. With the passage of time, phones with latest technologies began to crowd the market. Again it is seen that the players of the mobile phone market are constantly involved in fierce competition. So, in order to ensure their sustainability, the phone manufacturers are manufacturing new and innovative gadgets. Everyday, you would find new gadgets entering the market. If you take note of the last few months of the current year you will find some of the amazing gadgets that have redefined the whole concept of mobile telephony. Most of the manufacturers have come up with one or the other gadgets with latest technologies incorporated in it. To mention a few, look at the Apple iPhone, the Nokia N95 8GB or the Nokia 6300. Apple iPhone, the most talked gadget is a marvelous phone with brilliant multimedia functions. It is a music player, a Internet browser, a camera (although the camera sucks imho) and what not. As a PDA too, the iphone is unparalleled.

Samsung, the reputed slider phone manufacturer is also not far behind. The latest Samsung U600 and the Samsung G600 launched in 2007 are sexy as well as stylish. Along with all possible features, the brilliant outlook of these phones makes them epitomes of pure beauty.

So, is the new kid of Nokia, Nokia N95 8GB. With a massive storage capacity, the phone can store enough of the multimedia files which a user can hear while on the move. As a communication device too, Nokia N95 8GB has surpassed almost all its contemporaries.

This year a large collection of mobile phones are released. All the latest phones are powered with advanced technologies. But, if we talk of the special phones of 2007, Apple iPhone, Samsung U600, Nokia N95 8GB are some of the phones that stand tall among the crowd.

Although treated as a welcome development, the SDK will not be the same as writing a Mac OS X application and has its clear limits, people familiar with the matter say. These details are unavailable, though the features are broad enough that at least one major social networking site is reportedly interested what the native platform can offer versus existing web code. The group of companies has only received its development tools within the past two weeks and is allegedly unable to provide a timetable for when finished software will be ready, though it should be well ahead of the community at large, which only receives the SDK in February.
The slip corroborates remarks made by Apple chief Steve Jobs in his open letter announcing the SDK, which emphasized the need for a unique solution to third-party software that balances features with a layer of protection against privacy invasion and security breaches.

Think I’ll stick with my nokia

Insanely awesome iPhone hacker and developer “Core” just finished implementing AFP for the iPhone and iPod touch. This software connects your iPhone (or touch) to your computer using AFP, the AppleTalk Filing Protocol. Your iPhone shows up on your desktop as a disk with full read/write access.

The AFP server is brand new, so it is not yet available in Installer.app. To install by hand, use sftp to copy the tar file into /opt/iphone. Extract the archive on your iPhone or touch–the tar archive program is part of the BSD program; use tar xvf name-of-archive.tar–and run /opt/iphone/afp/startserver.sh &. The ampersand lets the program run in the background. (You will need to restart it after reboots.)

Once installed and running, go to Finder. Choose Go > Connect To Server, and enter the afp address for your iPhone, in my case afp://192.168.0.111. Just use the afp:// prefix with the local IP address of your iPhone. Enter your user id (root) and password (alpine) and your iPhone or iPod appears in the sources list for your Finder windows.

Once your iPhone learns how to add itself as a disk, you’ll start wondering how you ever lived without this. To add new applications, just drop them into the Applications folder. To back-up your personal data, just copy /var/root/Library. This is just an awesome accomplishment. Thank you Core!

Hopefully soon, we’ll see not only an Installer.app version but one with a controllable launch daemon that will let you enable and disable the service as desired.

Update: If you’re installing by hand, make sure you use the version for Registered Users. It’s the one from November 10th. Don’t use the earlier one that only allows guest mode
