Apple iPhone Software Developers Kit
Some developers are gaining early access to Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch software developer kit, according to reliable sources speaking to Electronista. A handful of companies are said to be getting rough versions of the tools to help code more advanced applications than would be possible with the current web-only solution. Exact details of what the kit allows are unknown, though it is confirmed that it produces native programs and somewhat resembles Google’s OpenSocial in that it mediates between the programmer and the iPhone operating system.

UK iPhone Users not Happy
Industry experts are predicting that sales of the iphone are probably not going to live up to apples expectations. Figures suggest if apple sell a quarter of a million units by christmas they will be doing well. The reasons for this are as follows.
- The cheapest deal you can get is a 18 month contract costing you £899.00
- The iPhone costs £70 more in the UK than it does in the US
- The iPhone is unable to access 3g services
- In some parts of the UK the only option for internet access is the fallback to GPRS
- Lets not even mention the camera

AFP for iPhone and iPod touch
Insanely awesome iPhone hacker and developer “Core” just finished implementing AFP for the iPhone and iPod touch. This software connects your iPhone (or touch) to your computer using AFP, the AppleTalk Filing Protocol. Your iPhone shows up on your desktop as a disk with full read/write access.
